George  ‘Wayne” Colebank was born August 23, 1933 to Robert L. “Rob” and Esther Nasman Colebank on
their farm in Woodside Township, Polk County, 7 miles from Mentor, Minnesota. George Wayne was named
after his uncle George Nasman, his mother’s brother. George Wayne was known as Wayne to his friends and
family. Wayne’s parents lost their farm in the Great Depression in the 1930s. In August of 1939 they loaded as
many of their personal possessions as possible in a trailer and pulled it to Tigard, Oregon with their 1935 Ford.
Wayne grew up on the outskirts of Tigard on his parent’s acreage. He attended the Durham grade school
and went to Tigard High. Later he took a home study course in civil engineering from the American School.
Wayne and Evelyn Parsons were married by the Justice of the Peace in Canyonville, Oregon on July 19,
1982. It was Wayne’s first marriage and Evelyn’s third. They divorced in 1989.
Wayne’s hobby is music. He enjoys playing ragtime tunes on the piano and plays trombone with the Bruce
Gilley band in Roseburg, Oregon. He attends the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Myrtle Creek, Oregon.
Wayne has no children.
