The headstone of Isaac Conn Zearley
Mary Ann Colebank was born November 18, 1824 to James
Colebank and Mary Goodwin Colebank in Monongalia County, West
Fayette County, Pennsylvania to John and Anna Hixon Zearley.
Isaac became a contractor and builder erecting many buildings in
different parts of the county. He was a skilled mechanic, having
learned the carpenter's trade and worked as a journeyman before
beginning contracting for himself. They lived in Springhill, Fayette
County, Pennsylvania. Mary Ann died October 9, 1852 in Monongalia
County, possibly in childbirth.
Isaac then married Elizabeth Bowman Zearley, born November 12,
1875. Isaac died July 6, 1906.
The children of Mary Ann Colebank Zearley and Isaac Conn Zearley
Elizabeth Jane Colebank - born 1843. She married William Hess. In
the 1880 federal census, their children were listed as Mary J. Hess,
age 14, William Hess, age 12, Elizabeth Hess, age 6, Blanche Hess,
age 3, and George Hess, age 1. William Hess was a gardener in
Philadelphia. Elizabeth was alternately called Eliza and Lizzie.
John Zearley - born 1848, died in 1850 at age 2.
Anna Mary Zearley - was born in 1852. She married David K. Stewart
in 1874. They lived in Masontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
Their children included Walter E., born 1883, Effie J., born in 1886,
and Clara M., born in 1894. They both died before 1923.
